Leadership and Positive Workplace Behaviour

Leadership and Positive Workplace Engagement

It is time to let you in on the secret. Leadership and positive workplace engagement go hand in hand. You will not achieve one without the other. Why is this the case? Employees look towards their leader for exactly what the name implies. Leadership. Be the leader they need that has vision, passion for the business and empathy when needed. Ask yourself what you are looking forward to every day. Is it the excitement of delivering you product or service to clients and staying that step ahead of your competitors? Whatever it is, this is driving you to succeed and keeping you motivated.

Now find out what drives your employees and whether your business provides them with it. We keep changing and so does our expectations when it comes to the workplace. Even so, the platform needs to be in place to ensure positive engagement. This is the platform you must provide and you will achieve this by being a great leader to your employees.

The Building Blocks

Make sure you have these in place to create the platform you need:

  • Be Approacable
  • Maintain Open Communication
  • Share your Vision
  • Put in place Support Systems

These are some of the essential “components” you need. From this, continue to build on it by strong leadership.

Taking Action

The first step is to establish you current situation. Identify issues that causes disengagement and prepare your action plan to suit. Get employee buy-in on the process before rushing into changes. This is where communication will play a huge role. Getting the buy-in sets up a collaborative platform where issues can be discussed.
