Change. Reality or Buzzword?
Change.
Have you ever found yourself thinking about Change and discarding the need for it? After all, you are managing without having to change anything, for now.
Let’s face some facts.
Change is inevitable in any business. Consider what Uber has done to the Taxi Industry and what Amazon is doing to retail. This has left a lot of businesses scurrying around to try and adapt their own business model to face this challenge, albeit a little late and it is hurting them.
This is the key to challenging yourself in business, or end up being challenged. You must constantly monitor the demands of your market, and deliver what it dictates. At times, you need to pre-empt what these demands may be and set the trend. These are the challenges you face in business, and these challenges demand change.
To simply ignore this need and retain status quo, may very well set the pattern for trying to get on board the train after it has left.
Consider the business model of old. You only had the business owner as the stakeholder servicing a market desperate for your product or service. Today however, the stakeholders are more than the business owners. Add your employees, clients and investors to the list because they all impact on how you conduct your business. You are faced by specific demands/needs from them and your job is to deliver the results, or go out of business.
Where do you start?
Do a full business needs analysis and establish the current state of your business and where you would like it to be. Then start working on an action plan to get you there. Evaluate what the market trends are and how you can meet these demands. Embrace change and make it work for you! It is reality and an absolute necessity in every aspect of business.
Constantly create a culture of learning in your business and continue to develop the skills of not only the business owner(s), but those of your employees as well. By improving skills, you ensure you remain ahead of the pack and ready to adapt to new challenges.
It is impossible for a business owner to be a specialist in every field. That is where you need to understand the benefit of calling on specialists in the different areas to help your business not only succeed, but continue to grow.
There are a number of business coaches, each a specialist in specific areas, that can assist you. Never feel too proud to reach out and get the help you need to ensure the success of your business. You know exactly what you want from your business. Let them guide you through to achieving those goals!
