Employer Employee Relations

Let’s face some of the facts about the employer and employee relations. No employer hires an employee with the intention of making their time at work as miserable as possible. In the same instance, no employee joins a company with the sole purpose of making things difficult for the employer. So why does it happen?

It is the ‘Little Things’ that adds up

You get caught up in the management of the business and miss an email from an employee. One week later you rush trough a conversation and the trend is set. In the employees mind, you do not value them enough to respond to their email, nor make time to discuss an important issue with them. Gradually this employee starts withdrawing leaving you wondering what has changed.

This ‘mindset’ keeps growing and before you know it, you lose a valuable employee or worse, you end up spending hours managing poor performance. The problem is that if you do not address the cause of this, it will not improve.

Find Time to Communicate

Lack of communication tends to be the driver of disengagement. This communication comes in different forms, but the key is to recognise the value your employees add to your business. This could be the make or break when it comes to employer/employee relations. The positive culture you want in your business does not just happen. It requires work from both sides, but get this right, and you will be the envy of other business owners.
