Steps to Change Management

What do we mean when talking about the steps to change management?

Identifying the need for change is one thing, implementing it with success is another. Follow the basic process, and your chance of success increases. It is crucial to fully understand the underlying issues prior to committing to changing any process or behaviour pattern. So, take a look at the steps to change management.

Your Starting Point.

To gain a clear understanding of the management perspective or desired outcomes, it is essential to go through the ‘interview’ process. This is done to clearly establish issues of concern, desired outcomes or objectives and what constraints exists. These interviews involves all executive and senior management levels.

The Next Step

When embarking on the steps to change management, you must involve your employees! This is a vital part of the entire change management process. Similar to establishing the platform from the management perspective, now do the same for your employees. Pay particular attention to the “Wish List” and support requirements. These areas will tell you which changes could spark positive engagement quickly.

The Proposal

This is the nuts and bolts of your findings. The proposal contains the specific steps to be implemented during your change management process. It is important to make sure you assign the person responsible for specific actions and target dates for completion.

Last but not Least

This is as important as every one of the above steps to change management. You must monitor the impact of every stage of the implementation process to make sure the desired results are achieved. During your monitoring and reporting, you may find areas that needs adjustment. This is not a “cast in stone” approach. Where there is need for improvement, adjust it but involve everyone involved.
